Marcus Smart Set For Breakout Year?
New season, new hopes & dreams and apparently a new Marcus Smart! After dropping 20lbs in the off season, Smart is looking and playing like a man possessed.
With the loss of Avery Bradley, the emergence of Terry Rozier and impending free agency (albeit restricted) Smart needed to do something - anything, to increase his offensive efficiency. Smart is currently at 35.9% for FG's in his career with an even lower 3P % of 28.3%. However all of us Celtics fans have forgiven this due to his stellar defence over the last 2 years.
Over the course of the preseason Smart has displayed an improved jumper from the 3 (most notably the corner) hitting at a 58.3% clip whilst looking aesthetically superior to last season. It wasn't just from 3 that Marcus impressed, he shot for 57.1% from the field and displayed leadership qualities throughout.
It may only have been pre-season and sterner tests await, but if he can carry this pre-season form over to the new season Boston will have a gem of a guard to pair with Kyrie or Terry this year - and Danny will have no choice but to match those offer sheets.
